The pre-existence of LANPEC - former Lanzhou Petroleum Machinery Research Institute (LPMRI) was moved from Beijing to Lanzhou city in 1959 & established there in May, 1960. The institute was the member of the State Ministry of Petroleum Industry, Ministry of Machinery Industry, the State Machinery Industry Bureau as a national A Level scientific research institution, as well as the technology centralized management institute for the national oil drilling machinery and oil refining/petrochemical equipment industry.

In July 1999, the institute has been transferred under China National Machinery Industry Corporation (SINOMACH) as a wholly owned subsidiary. In November 2007, the former institute had started the preparation work for overall restructuring and stock market listing, as renamed Lanpec Technologies Limited, which was officially established on Dec 30th, 2008.

On June 22nd, 2011, LANPEC listed on the Shanghai Stock Exchange.

Over the past 50 years, LANPEC has contributed 1073 scientific and technological inventions & achievements, 460 authorized patents to the country, including 58 invention patents, 383 utility model patents, 5 design patents, and 14 software copyrights.

LANPEC has been granted the design license of A1 / A2 / A3 / SAD special equipment (pressure vessel) and A1 / A2 / A3 special equipment (pressure vessel) manufacturing license, GB / GC special equipment(Pressure pipe) design license issued by the national authority, ASME manufacturing license and U/ U2 stamp certificate, Grade B engineering design and engineering consulting certificate, ISO management system (quality, environment, occupational health and safety) certification, etc.

From the Chinese national "Sixth Five-Year Plan"(1981-85) to the "Twelfth Five-Year plan" (2011-15), LANPEC has been working & responsible for the preparation of 42 major national planning on petroleum machinery industry. LANPEC drafted & issued Chinese petrochemical equipment industry national and industry standards more than 416 items in over 80 categories.

In the field of oil drilling machinery,

LANPEC has developed, designed and developed the 1500-6000m depth series of drilling rigs, the first DC-driven drilling rig (ZJ60D), the first AC-driven drilling rig (ZJ15D), the first DC DC-driven cluster well drilling rig (ZJ45D), the first high-power three-cylinder single-acting mud pump (3NB600),etc.

In the field of refining/petrochemical plants,

LANPEC participated in the optimization and engineering of China's first 1 million tons / year refinery, the first 5 million tons / year refinery, the first 115 thousand tons / year ethylene plant, the first 300 thousand tons / year ethylene plant and the first 500 tons / year gelatin plant.

In the field of offshore oil engineering,

LANPEC provided China's first domestic oil, gas water separation equipment for Chinese offshore oil platform. At the same time, The LANPEC independently developed new electric desalination technology, oil, water and gas separation technology, natural gas processing technology have been widely used in China's offshore oil and gas fields, from the Bohai Sea to the South China Sea, on dozens of offshore oil platforms and FPSOs.

In the field of heat transfer & energy saving technology,

LANPEC has developed with independent intellectual property rights of China's first 13,000 square meters energy saving high efficient shell-and-tube heat exchanger, the first domestic 10910 square meters large all-welded corrugated plate air preheater, the first high-flux tube heat exchanger, first 8000 square meters large thermal power plant plate condenser, the plate evaporative air cooler, the first domestic circulation heat exchanger, the first domestic liquefied natural gas open-rack evaporator, the Asia's largest 8000 cubic meters liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) spherical tank, the first domestic 1750 cubic meters liquefied natural gas (LNG) cryogenic tank, the first 1500 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas (LNG) cryogenic double wall spherical tank, China's largest 10000 cubic meters compressed natural gas (CNG) spherical tank, the largest PV value 4000 cubic meters liquid hydrocarbon ball tank, Asia's largest 8000 cubic meters of steel egg-shaped sludge digestion tank, etc. At the same time, LANPEC has also developed large-diameter towers, all kinds of tower trays & packings, internals.

From a single equipment research, to the development of complete unit system, then into the large industrial scale, LANPEC achieved the great nature changing growth. LANPEC developed a large number of new equipment and products, not only met the petroleum and petrochemical industry requirements on localization, enlargement and modernization, but also on energy conservation, reducing consumption and environmental protection to save investment & resources.

Since 2004, LANPEC has entered the fast lane of continuous development, and its technological innovation, production capacity, economic benefits, and industrial scale have reached historical highs, achieved leap-forward development, formed a solid foundation for overall restructuring and sustainable development. In August 2015, LANPEC Shanghai R&D Center’s establishment marked the beginning of a new historical stage in the implementation of the leap-forward development strategy.

As of September 30^th, 2018, LANPEC employees 1363 people, including 560 professional and technical personnel (39 professor-level senior engineers, 146 senior professional titles, 164 intermediate professional titles, and 79 junior professional titles, other titles 132 people).

National Petroleum Drilling and Refining Chemical Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, China Petrochemical Corporation Lanzhou Equipment Failure Analysis and Prevention Research Center, Machinery Industry Oil Drilling Equipment Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Machinery Industry Heat Exchanger Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center, Machinery Industry Lanzhou Research Center for Heat Transfer and Energy Saving Engineering Technology, are all located inside LANPEC company.

LANPEC is the chairman and general secretary unit of the National Petroleum and Petrochemical Equipment Industry Association Oil Drilling Machinery Professional Committee, the National Boiler and Pressure Vessel Standardization Technical Committee Heat Exchanger Subcommittee, and has been long term presiding over the daily work.
